These are figure drawings from today's Sunday morning class at Crealdé School of Art in Winter Park, FL and the model is my coworker and Orlando artist Lesley Silvia. Done with a Blackwing 602 pencil on Aquabee Super Deluxe 808 paper
9"x12". Click on the images for a bigger version:
A couple of birthday portraits last year, in the same vein as the previous Edge one. All in Canson BFK Rives cream paper about 5"x7". Portraits were done with a Pentel Tradio and Pocket Brush pens. I also used the regular Pentel Brush Pen for drybrush textures. Young Michael Stipe from R.E.M. (click images for bigger versions):
A young Dolly Parton:
This blue-gray gnatcatcher was painted with Dr. Martin dyes and a touch of white gouache:
Back in January last month, I visited the Armed Forces Military Museum in Largo, FL (just north of St. Petersburg on the West Coast) with my friends Jason Pichon, his brother Josh McLaughlin, and Elaine Cruz for a day of researching military equipment through history and drawing.
I got only a couple drawings but took lots of photos for reference. Hopefully I'll look at the photos and make more drawings later on. These were done with the Pentel Tradio and Pocket Brush pens on Moleskine.
I felt like I was a kid again drawing my G.I. Joes! I highly recommend this place if you have to research any type of historical military equipment!
I got to add a bit more to the Tom Buzbee collabo painting last year but haven't gotten any more done. Hopefully I'll jump back in it soon! This is only a small section; oil on a very big canvas (I believe 5'x7').
2 of my paintings and 1 drawing were selected for 3 different shows at Full Sail University's Digital Arts & Design gallery the HUB: "The First Lady of Song (Ella)", 11"x14" acrylic on linen back in September 2013 for the Music show:
A print on watercolor paper of "Turkey Lake Park", 5 1/4"x8" oil plein air on illustration board back in November 2013 for the Nature show:
And lastly the drawing of my friend "Audrey", 9"x12" Copic markers on marker paper for the Black and White show in January 2014 and currently on display:
Hi everybody! Just thought I'd post some of the art that I couldn't post last year. The last quarter of the year gets really busy at my teaching job so it takes a while to get back into the swing of things.
Warning: This post includes artistic nudity from figure drawing class so if you are offended by this, I'd suggest you not go
further and please check out my other work here in the non-figure
drawing posts (or clothed ones) and at the Dos Illustros sketchblog instead. If you're not offended then please read on...
